Vegetable and Melon Production on Small Acreages – Dr. Larry Stein will be discussing the various crops that work best in truck farming operations. With each crop, Dr. Stein will discuss the management of each crop as well as some of the pests that are associated with each crop and how to control them.
Management in Hydroponic Vegetable Production – Dr. Daniel Leskovar will be discussing Hydroponic vegetable production and will include management of diseases associated and how to prevent and manage pests associated with hydroponic gardening.
High Tunnels in Horticulture Production - Dr. Russ Wallace, Extension Horticulturist – Lubbock will present a program on using High Tunnels in various crops of truck farming operations. In addition he will include management of disease and insect control measures used in High Tunnel production.
Use of Trap crops in IPM approach in vegetable Gardening- Molly Keck- Extension Entomologist, Bexar County will be discussing the importance on Integrated Pest Management in vegetable gardening utilizing traditional chemical control measures as well as organic control measures.
Bridget Symm will provide a garden tour of the various crops in production and management of the crops.
